Professor Animal

Professor Animal began training in Tucson with Contra Mestre Enxu in 1998 (Under the guidance of Mestre Acordeon and the United Capoeira Association).  After being beaten to a pulp by a group of dubious characters (AZ Baptist Children's Group), Professor Animal decided enough was enough and found Contra Mestre Enxu's Capoeira Camp Malandragem (Located at Orts Dance Studio). This is where Professor Animal learned to stand up for himself and help others do the same. Professor Animal returned to Las Cruces NM and began to work with a small group of people and in the Fall of 2002 he was given the blessing to teach by Mestre Acordeon, and began the group known as "Capoeira Quinto Sol" , after the Aztec Calender which is a symbol of the times for his people. It signifies that "Now is the time of the fifth world of man"  Today is the day, we live, we dream, we play, today! When this time is up, we will awaken from the dream and crawl out of our skin like a snake shedding it's skin and go off into eternity to play capoeira in the endless cycle of life. THIS IS QUINTO SOL!!!!
